Power of Translation

At the lobby of the Oberoi, Delhi, an intricate silvery web hangs wall to wall, floor to ceiling. Dotted at intervals with indigo blue and marigold yellow circles of varying sizes, it's an installation that begs to be inspected further. As one draws nearer, the screen presents three layers of steel fingers hooked one to the other, and the blue and yellow reveal stone inlay of flowers on one side and a compact mirror on the other. This jagged-edged installation can only be seen through the interpretation of the word, "Atithi"...

2nd Italian Design Day

On the occasion of the 2nd Italian Design Day celebrated in Delhi today, the Embassy of Italy organised a panel discussion with Italian Design Ambassadors, Arch. Raffaella Mangiarotti and Arch. Marco Ferreri, together with indian Arch. Sanjib Chatterjee of Kaaru, Designer Siddhartha Das and crafts activist Mrs Laila Tyabji, Founder of Dakstar, on the positive impact that design can have on craftsmanship development. The concept of the restyling of Italian Cultural Centre by Arch. Andrea Anastasio has been explained to the guests, and all the panelists participated in the auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
